Auto Sales Training: Strategies and Tips for Success
5 06 2009Customers want to buy, if they enter your lot. You want them to buy from you, and this is your main goal. With this in mind, with 8 out of 10 customers wanting to buy that day, you only have one chance to make the sale. Here are a few strategies and tips to help you close the deal.
Tip #1 Rapport
Building rapport with your customers is the number one step in getting the sale. There has never been a salesperson that got a sale by saying nothing to a customer. Standing around talking to other salespersons will not get the attention of the customer, or improve their ideas about you. Your first impression has to be a good one for them to trust you. Ask questions about their family life, who is going to get the vehicle, what type of work do they do? These will help guide you to a price range and vehicle, as well as color if you only ask.
Tip #2 Auto Sales Books
There are many books available such as manuals and inventory sheets at your lot. These can be used to help you learn the inventory, as well as the options on each type of vehicle. If a customer asks you what type of car will get the best gas mileage, you don’t want to stand there with your mouth hanging open, so have an answer. Look over the information and get some hands on experience. This will give you the opportunity to practice your presentation and demonstration of the options as well.
Tip #3 Car Salesman Secrets
Some of the senior salespersons at your company may have tips for you, and these can be of help. But you need to develop your own method of making a sale. Always keep the client comfortable, and keep the conversation going towards the end result: the sale. Guide the conversation, and do not ignore questions or concerns of the client. Remember, they are what will make your paycheck.
Tip #4 Wrapping It Up
Clients normally voice objections during the closing of the sale. You may hear that the spouse needs to be involved or the price is too high to afford. Offer the use of your office phone to contact the spouse, and if the price is too high, there are other vehicles that have fewer options available for a lesser cost. Give the customer no reason to leave; because once they are gone, the sale is too.
